EMBA Core

The EMBA (Executive Master of Business Administration) program is an intensive study conducted in the form of second-cycle or postgraduate studies, the graduate of which receives a master’s diploma from the University of Economics in Wrocław or a certificate of completion of postgraduate studies and an Executive MBA certificate with the logo of the international accrediting institution AMBA.

The EMBA program is a proposal that falls within the mainstream of activities aimed at implementing the Bologna Process and the comparability of Polish economic studies with the programs of Western European and American universities in areas related to management education. In Western universities, MBA studies are by definition second-cycle (master’s) studies, addressed to people with professional practice, often in managerial positions. They also emphasize practical, on-the-job assignments on executive positions. Studies usually last 2 years and end with an MBA (Master of Business Administration) diploma. A characteristic feature of MBA education is that graduates of any field of study may apply for admission.

EMBA studies are designed to support dynamic career development of high and middle-level managerial staff employed in both domestic and international companies and business-related institutions. The program is continuously adjusted to current demands of the volatile economic environment, both in Poland and globally.

The Executive MBA program of the Wrocław University of Economics was established in 1993. It is an original program, modelled – especially in part constituting the so-called standard body of knowledge – on Executive MBA programs implemented at Western European and American universities, including McGill University, École des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (Canada) and Université du Québec and Montréal (Canada). To a large extent, the initiative and founding foundations were provided by Prof. Ewa Konarzewska-Gubała, long-time Director of the EMBA Program. We can, therefore, boast of over 30 years of tradition, which involved gaining experience, introducing modern teaching methods and establishing close cooperation with the business community.

International cooperation

From the beginning of its operation, the EMBA emphasizes cooperation with lecturers from foreign universities. Currently, our foreign lecturers represent the following universities:

  • University of Neuchâtel (Neuchâtel, Switzerland),
  • Copenhagen Business School (Copenhagen, Denmark),
  • Umeå School of Business and Economics (Umeå, Sweden),
  • Católica Porto Business School (Porto, Portugal),
  • Nova School of Business and Economics (Lisbon, Portugal),
  • ŠKODA AUTO University (Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic),
  • University of Leipzig (Leipzig, Germany),
  • Henley Business School, University of Reading (Reading, UK),
  • Stanford University (Stanford, USA).

Strategic partnership

University of Neuchâtel

The Wrocław University of Economics has been cooperating with the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland) for over 14 years. In 2021, a decision was made on a strategic partnership to implement the Executive MBA program for the international option. The Swiss Gateway to International Business (Optionally, this module may be replaced with an equivalent module conducted at another foreign university.) module is implemented as part of the cooperation. The University of Neuchâtel is a university with a long tradition, founded in 1838. This university is in the world’s top twenty best small universities (UniNE ranks – the World’s Best Small Universities) and is ranked 37th among the 200 most international universities (UniNE ranks on the 200 world’s most international universities in Times Higher Education – Ranking).
